Athenry AC athletes Elaine Walsh and Brian Bruton returned to something approaching their very best form at the Achill Half-Marathon over this weekend. Brian posted 01:19:13 for a commendable third place in the men's field and Elaine placed fourth woman in 1:30:17. There was a highly competitive local field assembled for this race and such high placings are a credit to these two Athenry AC runners. The Achill course, although amongst the most beautiful anywhere in the world, is far from fast and finish times have to be seen in that context.

Pádraig Mac Criostail and Caitriona Jennings won the men's and women's races in times of 01:15:53 and 01:19:00 respectively.
