After an anxious wait it's been confirmed today that the Athenry Womens team have won silver medals in the National Senior Women's Marathon Championship of Ireland. This comes only a couple of months after their bronze medals in Waterford at the national Half Marathon. Does anyone else notice a potential sequence here ?
This is a huge achievement and testament to some very hard training over the summer. Aside from the individuals who competed on the team it's a great day for the club. For many years we didn't have a strong record of women's involvement in club affairs and that has certainly changed this year.

Take a bow ladies!
Thanks to a great Mentor
I Would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the ladies team to thank Mick for been a great mentor to us while we were training for the marathon.
For the great advices , doing up training plans, mapping out routes (even if some of us did manage to take wrong turns…:) he is indeed a true gentleman and we are very lucky to have him.
We would also like to sincerely wish Mick all the best when he takes part in the 100 Km European Championship.
