We were all absolutely thrilled to hear of Olive Loughnane's silver medal success in Berlin at the World Athletics Championships. It's so exciting to realise that two Galwegians, and such close neighbours, are representing both their clubs and their country on the world athletics stage with such distinction.

Olive is pictured above by John O'Conner helping out at the Kilconieron Road Race last spring. On that day she was an inspiration to many of us club runners as we tried to improve our performances and enjoy our sport after her fine example. It warms the heart to see her achieve her ambitions in Berlin.
