From Deirdre Hassett.. This Sunday, we're going to do the first ever Athenry AC Christmas Fatass Run at Kilbrack Woods. Yes, I'm showing the effects of a summer spent in the US - this is an American concept (but a great one, I think). The idea of a fatass run is to get a gang of people together for a social run, with eating and drinking afterwards (hence the name). It's not about how fast you can run. There will be a nippy group lead out by Mick Rice, the rest of the group we'll split by approximate easy run speed (but it's designed to be an amble so if you want to burn up the rubber you can go out with the front runners). Fit4Lifer's very welcome. There will be a route marked out - this is about 6.5 miles which will take about an hour at a leisurely pace. Groups can do one or two laps, or four!. Knock yourself out! Whenever you've had enough the plan is to retire to the Loughrea Hotel for coffee and buns where everyone will eventually end up for elevenses.
