A special 5K Road race will be held in Ballinamore on Friday, August 1st, at 8 pm as part of the local community celebrations that evening to mark the selection of Colin Griffin to take part in the 50k walk in the Olympic Games.

The Race will be open to all over 14 years, with a particular welcome for joggers and walkers. It will also be part of the Ballinamore AC participation in the AAI Fit4Life programme which is supported by the Irish Sports Council.

There will be prizes for Senior men & women, Junior men and women, Over 40 and Over 50 Masters men and women as well as spot prizes for the walking and jogging sections.

Each finisher will also receive a tee shirt specially designed to mark this unique occasion. The entry fee is ten euro and entries can be made by Tuesday July 28. For more information contact 071 9644207

Afterwards there will be a function in the Commercial Hotel with refreshments and a live band, and there will be a presentation to Colin during the night.
