It was a great day for the club, with fine performances across the entire age range of competitors, a big well done to all those who competed, juvenile and senior.

From the results it appears that Athenry AC brought home 32 medals (9 Gold, 16 silver and 7 bronze) which is up on last year which shows the club is moving in the right direction.

The senior club put out a small team this year, with a successful return from injury for Evan Quirke taking two gold and a silver.  Sinead Tuohy (high jump silver) continues to make good steady progress in her jumping and will be in action again this weekend at the National Junior/U23 championships.  Sinead also has her sights on this years indoor and outdoor senior championships and we wish her well in those.  There was a welcome return to competetive action after a three year hiatus for Iain Shaw, who took silver in the Senior mens shot putt, and Iain has his eyes firmly set on the National Masters in July.

But the true champion of the event was the fantastic crowd who contributed to a great competetive atmosphere at AIT international arena.  The noise all day was deafening and all events, track or field caught the attention of everyone.  Thank you for your support.
