Athenry AC members definitely made good use of the perfect running conditions tonight in Claregalway with at least seven new PB's set in Clare River Harriers' annual 10k event.

Showing impressive improvement lately is Ian Pomphrett who ran a 2min PB with a 40.28 whilst Pat McDonagh claimed just rewards for some consistent running over the past year, dipping under the 40min marker for the first time to claim a great new PB of 39.49. Both Gearoid Rohan & Chris Deakin took a minute off their PB's with a sub 38 & sub 39 respectively whilst Kieran Guiry ran a 30sec PB but narrowly missed out on his sub 40 target with a 40.02. Finishing alongside Kieran was Sinead Foran who was even closer with a 40.01. More PB's on the night were gained by Mairead Sullivan (43.21) & Paul Hegarty (41.23).

Ray Somers was first club member home with 36.10 for fourth position with John Langan our last sub 40 member on the night with an impressive 39.05.

Sinead was first female member home (& fifth overall) with her 40.01, followed by Mairead. Next female home and definitely showing some timely return to form was Deirdre Quinn (just in time for Dublin too!) with a 44.38.

Running some of their fastest times of the year were James Lundon & Pat Forde whilst Mark Flannery & James Corbett made a rare appearance in the maroon & whiet singlet tonight. We also had some new members appearing with Alexandra Rose & John O'Leary lining out for the club tonight.

First place on the night was taken by the ever present Matt Bidwell, a perfect advertisement for Fitness Analytics if ever there was one.  Matt's clubmate Regina Casey was first female on the night completing a double for Galway City Harriers.

Thanks to CRH on a super event, especially Tom Kilgarriff and his crew of runners who got the evening off to allow the rest of us enjoy the very sunny weather that greeted us all around the course.  We were even treated to a few notes from the concert at the castle as we passed.
