A great night in and around Carnaun last evening (Friday, 25 July).  Thirty people lined up and finished on what was a very warm evening for a 10KM run.  edenhill77 was there to capture the race - before, during and after - with his Flickr feed being updated as I write this.

James Corbett and his crew of helpers did a fine job of getting the race off pretty much on time and then having the burgers ready to eat by the time all the finishers had come through. The result was announced within 90 minutes of the race starting too!

Gearoid Rohan was first home and under 40 but was well under his handicap so didn't figure in the handicap prizes.

Overall winner and first AAC male was Pat McDonagh, who was a mere three ticks over his estimated time, followed closely by Ronan McCarthy (11 seconds) and Patrick Forde (22 seconds).

Mary Rohan was closest to her handicap, 34 seconds off her estimated time.  Jackie Lynskey and Caroline Freeney were 39 and 46 seconds off their handicaps in second and third place.

There was an unusual situation in the non-AAC category where the only two outsiders tied, both finishing 39 seconds below their estimated time.  They share the prize, Andrew Talbot (CRH) and Paul McDonagh (Maree AC).  It was too dark for a re-run and we had no finish line technology ;-).

Onwards to the 5KM Handicap later in August!
