Whilst most members seemed to be saving themselves for the known flats of Tuam next week, there were still a few who took the opportunity that the perfect weather afforded them with 10 members running their fastest time of the series in last nights Leg 5 in Ballybrit.
After hovering the wrong side of 22mins for a while, Janet Clancy finally dipped under it last week in Claregalway before dropping it further again in Leg 5 with a 21.44 whilst brother Ray also equalled his best time for the series, running a 17.25 to give him 4th position overall. Tomas Kadzielawski took another 15 seconds off his series time & kept up his impressive run of times with an 18.32. There were also series best times for David Dunne, John Langan, Shirley Quinn, Richie Humphreys, Donna Lane, Peter Elwood & Michael Glynn.
At the pointy end of the race Conor Dolan beat GCH clubmate Owen Byrne by 31 seconds to take the win in a time of 16.01 with Tomas O' Dowd finishing third with a 17.20. First woman home was Sinead Brody of GCH with a 19.09 followed by Grainne Ni Uallachain & Collette Glennon.
