East Galway A/C are seeking your support for the Castleblakeney 8km road race taking place on Saturday 27th October.  This race is being run by the East Galway Athletic Club and ALL PROFITS are being donated to The Galway Oncology (Cancer Unit) This race will be Permitted and has been measured.  

The race takes place in Castleblakeney a town that is just a couple of miles away from Mountbellew.   Entry is available through runireland.com or on the day from 11am on at Saint Cuan's College in Castleblakeney.    Map will be available on runireland shortly.

As most of you will know 1 in every 3 of us will be affected by Cancer in our lifetime.  This is a staggering figure and we really need to support all those who contract this terrifying Disease.  In the last 4 years I have myself survived a cancer scare and unfortunately I have - as those of you who know me will know - also Lost 2 Brothers to this Parasite.  I would plead with you to pass this message onto every club member colleague and contact that you have and hopefully we can make a difference.   This race will be supported among others by members of the Meehan Family who are well known as members of the Fabulous Galway Football team who won recent all-irelands and by All Ireland Hurling Player Cyril Donnellan.   No other person or body will make money on this race.  It is 100% profit to the Oncology Unit.
