This year's Galway Track and Field championships were another triumph for local athletics, fine organisation and good humour. Standards have undoubtedly improved at this fixture as the new format had bedded down over the last few years, but not to the extent that there isn't a place for allcommers and all standards. There's tough competition for all who want or need it and a warm welcome for everyone.

Credit for the resurgence in senior Track and Field in County Galway has to go to Paul McNamara, the brains and motivation behind the re-vamped format, and a well of enthusiasm and professionalism in terms of getting the job done.
