Over the last few months, 3 Athenry AC members have been deep in training for their toughest adventure yet. Last Saturday, Ray O' Connor, Mick Rice and Valerie Glavin took on 100 miles of Connemara roads in the Connemara 100.

A number of other members were there to organise, support and cheer them on.

Ray managed 42 miles, but a failure to keep food down forced him to withdraw.

In his first attempt at the distance, Mick posted an outstanding time of 14:31:53, averaging 9 minute miles, and even a negative split.

Valerie Glavin has been eating up the miles in traning, and depsite some pre race nerves crossed the line with 18:05:52.

We eagerly await some long distance race reports, and in the meantime, Phillip has some great photos.
