At a fantastic awards ceremony in Dublin yesterday, Paul Hession picked up the award for athlete of the year, beating off stiff competition from Rob Heffernan, Eileen O Keefe and Finnoula Britton.

Athenry AC was also nominated from club of the year, but that award went to Donegal's Tir Conaill.

A good crowd attended from Athenry AC, and amoung the guests were Paul's coach Stuart Hogg and his wife, who had flown over from Scotland for the event.
