A lovely day and a good turnout for the Clarenbridge 10KM, last Sunday, 23 November. Congrats to the organisers on an excellently-appointed race and one that the local running community have taken to their hearts in recent years.
Athenry AC athletes all did themselves proud, including Jane Ann Meehan who added to her burgeoning collection of local prizes with another strong run in the mid-38s to be first woman home. She took the scenic route around the course though, stopping on a number of occasions to admire the scenery. Gearoid Rohan had another strong run in the mid-37s (PB?). Dave Meehan, Chris Deakin and Pat McDonagh all dipped under the 40 too, all wearing their maroon & white with pride!
Mary Kealy was first master/veteran woman home and also ran a PB of sub-43. She was followed closely by Mairead Sullivan, running very close to her PB again, after a long year on the roads of Ireland.
James Lundon did run a sub-42 for the first time in exactly two years, though John Cunniffe had to go into the raw data to prove it as the PDF/XLS result only gave him a flat 42.
At least two other Galway club athletes broke 40 for the first time, Mr Burke of Tuam and Mr O'Conghaile from South Galway - sincere congrats to both on this singular achievement.
