The sun shone long enough for most runners to finish today's race on a fine crisp afternoon for running the 10th Tuam 8km which was again hosted brilliantly by the Mongahans & all at Tuam AC today.

First home was Paddy Hamilton of Annadale Striders in 24.21, 11 seconds off the course record which is currently held by current National Marathon Champion, Sean Hehir. Paddy was out front on his own for most of the race & was well clear of the field with Stephen McKeigue of Ferbane AC nearly two & a half minutes behind in second. Fintan Hyland of GCH completed the podium.

It was normal service at the head of the race for Athenry AC with Ray Somers & Lyall Guiney both running sub 30mins to be first two club runners home. But in an interesting development among the club frontrunners, Kieran Guiry has shown the hard work he has put in over the last year is still bearing fruit with a brilliant 2min PB (31.37) & also edged out Frank Burke by one second. Instead of concentrating on chasing down Ray Somers in the future Frank also has to be looking over his shoulder for Kieran. Hopefully this head to head will push both on to some great times this year.

Sinead Foran continued her brilliant form with a 31.32, placing as fourth woman home & missing out on a podium finish by 32 seconds but had the consolation of the first F35, whilst other noticeable times on the day were a rare appearance by David Dunne (33.52 but still fresh from his 60m dash in Athlone yesterday, in an Athenry AC single too) & a brilliant 32.43 from Pat McDonagh (PB?).

Overall there was another good turnout of 33 Athenry AC runners supporting a great local race.

Provisional results are attached from RedTagTiming.
