The second running of the Gort RFC 10KM took place today (Sunday, 20 October) on a relatively flat course on the Tubber/Beagh side of Gort, starting and finishing in the Square in the town itself.
Congrats to Peter Minihane and his efficient crew of helpers on a well organised race, both before and after, especially their ability to keep the rain away, with it stopping just before the race started exactly at 2PM, and staying away for the rest of the afternoon.
Pride of place, from an Athenry AC perspective, must go to the achievement of newish member, Mark Hannon (to the left of the image heading this article with the cap) on his breaking 40 minutes for the first time, and with 18 seconds to spare too. I know there is a lot more in the chap once he gets going properly ;-). Philip Magnier won the over 60! I didn't know the man was over 50, let alone 60 :*).
A full provisional result is attached.
