Another race was added to the burgeoning Galway road race calendar on All-Ireland Football Final Sunday last out in Castledaly. Marguerite Brady of APA and her merry band of helpers must be very happy how the race turned out, raising nearly E1000 in the process.
Almost 50 runners lined up just overright the entrance of St Thomas' GAA Club front gate, to run up and back the sideroad by the pitch. The race was over a perfect out-and-back loop, with the start and finish line on the same patch of road, reminscient of its much better known sister race in Ballycotton!

The event was won by Keith Whyte and Veronica Colleran, who picked up their crystal prizes afterwards in the hall just beside the start/finish line. Category prizes were won by Dave Mullins, Thomas Porter and Bernie Kelly (as ever)!

Pride of place must go, however, to my very good pal and main umpire of those dangerous Hurling fields of Galway, Diarmuid Quill (Craughwell AC), who broke not alone his 10KM PB but also his 8KM PB along the way. Taking 76 ticks off any PB is something to savour, though he's not likely to be patting me on the back by publishing the image below.
No one said getting a PB (or two!) was a free lunch, my friend!
