With the 13th edition of the Fields of Athenry 10km road race fast approaching, Athenry AC have announced that they will once again be partnering with the Athenry Tidy Towns Committee for their popular annual event.
As previously, a portion of the proceeds of the race will go to supporting the ongoing work of Athenry’s Tidy Towns Committee. With the race expected to attract its largest field ever - perhaps in excess of 1,500 runners & walkers - it will doubtless be one of the largest sporting events that the town will host this year.
Race director Frank Burke of Athenry AC said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be associated with the Tidy Towns Committee. Everyone who runs or walks around the town will be aware of the great work they do. We’re hoping for a great race this year and want to remind everyone that, although some of the fastest runners in Ireland take part in this race, walkers and runners of all standards are also very welcome to join in.”
The race takes place at 11:00am on Dec 26th, starting from Station Road. Race details and online entry are available on http://www.athenry10k.com/.
