A brand new race on the Galway running scene has been scheduled for Castledaly in South Galway for 2pm on Sunday the 20th of September next. Situated on the Gort to Loughrea road, the course chosen by the local organisers is along quiet country roads and amidst absolutely beautiful scenery. The race is being organised with co-operation from Craughwell AC and has been granted an AAI permit. The route has been accurately measured by an AAI measurer.

It's hoped to have online entry up and running soon and, of course, entries will be welcomed on the day itself.

This race is being organised in support of APA (AIDS Partnership With Africa) a charity with which many locals have become actively involved. The race HQ will be the local St Thomas GAA club, which as generously agreed to the use of their facilities on the day and so there'll be plenty of space for warming up and down and for refreshments afterwards.

Local organiser Marguerite Brady says,

"We know that we're the new kids on the block but we hope to put on a well organised race that will be suitable for all standards of runners to enjoy. We hope in particular to see many members of the Fit4Life programme turn up to take part and believe that they'll really enjoy the beautiful roads and scenery around Castledaly. We're really looking forward to the race and hope people will join us in raising some funds for some of those most in need"
