Would you like to get an early taste of the Connemara Marathon course? This year’s official race is of course a sell-out but a group of Athenry runners intend to run the course on Saturday February the 10th next as a prelude to the big event. We’ve done this a few times before, most recently a year ago and the photographic evidence can be seen at http://www.athenryac.com/image/tid/39. The idea is to get out there early and run however much of the course suits each individual on the day and also with the intention of us all reaching Maam Cross at around 11:30am. At the moment there’s about three people intending to go the full distance and some others doing the ‘half’. We can then decamp to Oughterard for refreshments.
So there you have it. If you’d like to run either a portion of or the entire course before the official big day here’s your chance. If you’d like to be involved just drop me an email at [email protected] and I’ll add you to the list of participants. We’ll be depending on people to group together to arrange lifts to and from the course and so if you are able to help in that regard let me know and I’ll try to co-ordinate.
You know it makes sense.
