Galway Bay

Galway Bay...

Following on from a discussion at this year's Galway County Board AGM it has been proposed to hold a meeting of senior runners and other athletes, race organisers and other interested parties in the County. This meeting will take place on Thursday the 9th of February next at 8:30pm (sharp!!) in the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry .

The hope is that some proposals will emerge to build on the highly successful events already taking place throughout the county. These proposals may be implemented at a club and county level hopefully leading to wider participation in training and competitive events.

Enhancing Senior Participation in Running and Athletics in Galway

Suggestions will be invited towards improving participation levels in athletics events, particularly running, in Galway City and County. Suggestions are welcome from all people with an interest in athletics or running including:

* Occasional runners

* Club runners / athletes

* Seasoned road and track & field athletes

* Race directors and organisers

This is an informal gathering and absolutely everyone with an interest in these matters is welcome to come along. We'd like this to be as inclusive as possible; from our champions to our walkers, and our champion walkers of course!

If you can't attend on the night you can still take part by sending comments or suggestions to me at [email protected] and I'll make sure they're fed into the process. You could also add a comment to this topic here by clicking the link below.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully we'll see you there on the night.
